ABOUT SAFARI & ME

My name is Tarryn Thackwell, I have a passion for sustainability and have worked for a number of years in this space.

I grew up on a farm in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, where many hours were spent adventuring and exploring nature. I try to impart my love of the outdoors to my two young daughters and encourage them to learn about our fascinating surroundings in Southern Africa.

We are fortunate to spend a lot of time in the African bush with family and friends. Seeing the excitement of children learning and discovering was the inspiration behind the Safari & Me brand. Game drives and bush experiences are marked by trying to find as many birds, animals and spoor as possible and keeping track of any new species. I realised there was an opportunity to enhance their understanding of the magic of our world and its creatures whilst also conveying the importance of preserving it. So, I conceptualised the durable, reusable Safari & Me activity book with nature and sustainability in mind – and from there our business journey began. I cannot wait to expand the Safari & Me product offering so watch this space!
